Adrenal Paraganglioma CT Findings

  • Extra-adrenal pheochromocytoma
  • Homogeneous or heterogeneous mass
  • Hyper enhancement
  • Size from 1 cm to over 20 cm
  • Common locations are carotid body, jugular foramen, aorticopulmonary region, posterior mediastinum, abdominal paraaortic region including Organ of Zuckerkandl, and pelvis

Etiology:

  • Familial history common

Epidemiology:

  • Mean age at presentation is 51

Presentation:

  • Asymptomatic
  • High blood pressure

Prognosis:

  • Surgery needed
  • Patients usually do well
