Adrenal Myelolipoma CT Findings

  • Benign tumor
  • Nonfunctioning tumor
  • Usually older patients
  • Composed of mature fat cells and hematopoeitic tissue
  • May have calcifications in addition to fat
  • Size range is variable (2-17cm)

Other Information About Adrenal Myelolipoma

Etiology:

  • Generally unknown
  • Higher incidence in individuals with CAH

Epidemiology:

  • 5th - 7th decade of life
  • Equal incidence in males and females

Presentation:

  • Generally asymptomatic
  • Abdominal pain
  • Nausea

Prognosis:

  • About 100% of adrenal myelolipomas are benign
