Adrenal CT Appearances
Adrenal Myelolipoma CT Findings
- Benign tumor
- Nonfunctioning tumor
- Usually older patients
- Composed of mature fat cells and hematopoeitic tissue
- May have calcifications in addition to fat
- Size range is variable (2-17cm)
Other Information About Adrenal Myelolipoma
Etiology:
- Generally unknown
- Higher incidence in individuals with CAH
Epidemiology:
- 5th - 7th decade of life
- Equal incidence in males and females
Presentation:
- Generally asymptomatic
- Abdominal pain
- Nausea
Prognosis:
- About 100% of adrenal myelolipomas are benign
