Foot Anatomy
The anatomy of the ankle is complex and in the past CT evaluation of the ankle was often limited to axial slices and simple multiplanar reconstructions. However improvements in CT scanning technology now allow thin collimation and isotropic datasets. These advances along with easy to use 3D software have improved our ability to image the ankle with volume display. It is important for the radiologist to be familiar with the anatomy in all 3 dimensions.
This exhibit provides detailed and schematic medical illustrations, corollary CT, and state of the art 3D MDCT volume rendered images and animation, which will demonstrate the complex anatomy of the ankle in 3 dimensions. This interactive atlas will include a variety of cases, which demonstrate trauma and other ankle pathology, web based teaching files, associated syllabi material, key articles, and references. A short quiz is also provided, which will allow radiology professionals a rapid evaluation of their understanding of ankle anatomy after using this atlas.
