CASE NUMBER 387
Diagnosis

Palatal Basal Cell Carcinoma

Note
T1 mildly hypointense, STIR hyperintense, enhancing mass in the left soft palate which demonstrates mild restricted diffusion compatible with hypercellularity. There is no evidence of perineural spread into the palatine foramina. Differential considerations include a minor salivary gland tumor such as adenoid cystic carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, or metastasis. Biopsy revealed this mass to be basal cell carcinoma of the minor salivary glands, a rare entity. The patient subsequently underwent resection of the mass.
