Lyme Disease

Note
These images show thickening and enhancement of the bilateral cranial nerves III, V, and VII. Findings can be seen in granulomatous diseases such as sarcoidosis, infection such as Lyme disease, or other inflammatory or less likely neoplastic (i.e. lymphoma) processes. This patient presented with left facial hemiplegia and right facial numbness and was found to have positive titers for Lyme disease. Patients may also develop parenchymal lesions in the periventricular white matter that mimic demyelinating lesions.Treatment consists of antibiotics.
