CASE NUMBER 325
Diagnosis

Multiple Sclerosis

Note
These images demonstrate extensive T2 FLAIR hyperintense, T1 hypointense lesions involving the periventricular, subcortical, juxtacortical, and deep white matter in keeping with the patient’s clinical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS). Many of these lesions are oriented perpendicular to the calloso-septal interface, so-called Dawson fingers. None of these white matter lesions demonstrated enhancement or restricted diffusion, findings that would be indicative of acute demyelination. MS is the most common demyelinating disease and is seen more often in women.
