CASE NUMBER 323
Diagnosis

Sinus Osteoma

Note
These images show a rounded osseous mass protruding into the sphenoid sinus. There are no associated aggressive features or soft tissue component. This is compatible with a benign osteoma. These may become symptomatic as a result of mass effect or obstruction of a sinus. In those cases, treatment would be surgical. Osteomas are associated with Gardner’s syndrome which is characterized by familial colonic polyposis and other benign tumors such as desmoids. Sinonasal osteomas are most commonly located in the frontal sinuses with the sphenoid sinus reported to be very rare.
