Vocal Cord Paralysis, right

Note
22-year-old male who presented for voice hoarseness. The images demonstrate findings of right sided vocal cord paralysis including: medialization of the right true vocal cord, anteromedial rotation of arytenoid cartilage, medially displaced, thickened aryepiglottic fold and asymmetric enlargement of the right pyriform sinus. Causes of vocal cord paralysis include injury to or compression of the vagus nerve from medulla to recurrent laryngeal nerve. On imaging evaluation, the jugular foramen, carotid space, mediastinum and tracheoesophageal groove should be carefully inspected. The most common pathologies include neoplasm, trauma, idiopathic, and nonmalignant thoracic pathology.
