Chondrocalcinosis

Note
This is a case of 56 year old man who presents with recurrent joint pain. Radiographs of the knee and the wrist were obtained. The frontal radiograph of the knee demonstrates calcification of the fibrocartilage of the medial and lateral menisci. The lateral radiograph demonstrates calcification of the meniscal fibrocartilage as well as calcification of the cartilage of patellofemoral compartment. Radiograph of the wrist demonstrates calcification within the fibrocartilige disc of the triangular fibrocartilage complex of the wrist. The differential diagnosis of chondrocalcinosis is broad and includes senescent calcifications, calcium pyrophosphate deposition disease, hyperparathyroidism, and hemochromatosis. This patient was diagnosed with CPPD arthropathy.
