Diagnosis

Parotid Duct Stone

Note
These images demonstrate a subcentimeter hyperdensity in the right parotid duct with upstream dilation of the duct and asymmetric hyperdensity of the right parotid gland. Findings are compatible with obstructive parotid duct stone with subsequent parotiditis. The most common location for the sialolith is in the hilum of the gland and the distal parotid duct. Stone formation is associated with alcoholism, malnutrition, and diabetes. Treatment usually involves surgical removal.
