CASE NUMBER 153
Diagnosis

Arteriovenous Malformation

Note
This is a case of a left occipital lobe arteriovenous malformation with multiple serpiginous flow voids extending over the medial cortical surface of the left occipital lobe on the sagittal T1-weighted images. Prominent draining veins extend toward to the deep cerebral vein and vein of Galen. The axial T2/FLAIR weighted sequence better demonstrates the nidus itself with associated gliosis. The flow voids within the nidus are better demonstrated on the axial T2-weighted sequence. The malformation demonstrates heterogenous postcontrast enhancement. In this case, arterial feeders were via the left posterior and middle cerebral arteries. There is no normal brain parenchyma between the flow voids. Intranidal aneurysms may be seen in up to 50% of cases.
