Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI)

Note
This is a patient with bilateral hip pain. A frontal radiograph of the pelvis and hips was obtained with demonstrate small osseous bumps at the femoral head and neck junctions bilaterally as indicated by the red arrows. There is subtle radiolucency underlying these osseous bumps which is referred to as fibrocystic changes. These constellation of findings can be seen with femoracetabular impingement, abbreviated as FAI, specifically cam-type FAI. These small bumps may impinge on the roof of the acetabular roof with movement leading to hip pain, labral tears, and progression to osteoarthritis.
