Diagnosis

Emphysema on Chest X-ray

Note
Hyperinflation of the lungs, in this case due to emphysema. Note how many posterior ribs are visible (normal is 10). The slips of diaphragmatic muscle curvieup into the chest wall on the frontal view. Anterior clear space in front of heart and AP diameter of chest are increased. Aorta and left pulmonary artery are well seen on lateral view due to lung folding around them.
