Diagnosis
Common Peroneal Neuroma
Note
History of a crush injury to the left knee. There is edema and fatty replacement within the peroneus longus and brevis muscle bellies. There is longitudinal thickening and increased fluid signal intensity within the common peroneal nerve. The imaging findings are compatible with a common peroneal neuroma in continuity. Neuroma formation is a known response to peripheral nerve injury or secondary to entrapment. Nerves that are lacerated or traumatized may form a neuroma. Neuromas can be classified into two basic subtypes neuroma in continuity or end bulb neuroma.
