Bladder Cancer

Note
This is a case of bladder cancer. Nothing very special. Again, the importance of good bladder distension. We like to give patients 750-1000 CCs of oral contrast before the study and then encourage them not to go to the bathroom. And so you can see bladder lesions is one of the things. Any little enhancement of the bladder will be suspicious for malignancy, but this is definite wall thickening of the left side of the bladder. Very classic for bladder cancer.

In terms of infection, you can get bladder wall thickening with cystitis, but it’s usually more circumferential. It’s not focal. And the thickening and enhancement that you see here, including both the left and the posterior right wall, really are very classic for neoplasm. Particularly nicely shown again on the coronal views. A really classic case of bladder cancer.

In this case, we would also look upward, look for the presence of adenopathy. Look at the kidneys, make sure we’re not looking at transitional cell carcinoma.
