Normal Anatomy

Posterior view of the coronary artery branches: These illustrations show the right and left main coronary arteries and their branches posteriorly. After traveling along the right atrial appendage, giving rise to anterior branches, the right coronary artery divides and turns posteriorly. This posterior portion of the right coronary artery gives rise to the posterolateral branch and in a right coronary dominant heart terminates as the posterior descending artery, also called the right posterior interventricular branch.
