    What is Intragastric Balloon Therapy?

    • Endoscopic placement of saline filled balloons in the stomach
    • Weight loss results due to restriction and early satiety.

    Indications

    • Morbid obesity with BMI >30 kg/m2 , who do not meet criteria for other bariatric surgeries including:
      • Too risky for bariatric surgery
      • Don’t qualify for bariatric surgery but could benefit early weight loss

    Contraindications

    • Prior gastric surgery
    • UGI ulcers
    • Coagulopathy
    • Severe liver disease
    • Large hiatal hernia
    • Pregnancy
