CASE NUMBER 170
Diagnosis

Typical and Atypical Hemangioma

Note
This is a case demonstrating the features of typical and atypical hemangioma. Within the T2 vertebral body, there is scattered T1-hyperintense signal and prominent vertical striations. On the sagittal T2 and STIR-weighted images, there is redemonstration of hyperintense signal abnormality in the T2 vertebral body with an additional rounded hyperintense lesion in the T5 vertebral body. The contrast enhanced images demonstrate enhancing lesions in the T2 and T5 vertebral bodies. The imaging findings are of a typical hemangioma at the T2 vertebral body and an atypical hemangioma at the T5 vertebral body. Hemangioma are common benign benign vascular malformations. While the lesions are usually confined to the osseous elements, there may be epidural components.
