Scan Comments: A flash spiral mode can be used to improve scan speed and limit breathing artifact if the patient is short of breath. If IV contrast is warranted, venous phase imaging is routinely performed with a 40-60 second delay. All scans are performed using the ALARA principle.

Comments: CareDose is used to reduce patient dose. 100 kVp can be used for most average size patients which will significantly reduce patient dose. It has been our experience that avoiding high pitch values in excess of 3.0 will help to improve image quality without significantly sacrificing scan speed.

Reconstruction Comments: When using flash spiral mode, the DFOV is limited by the smaller of the two detector arrays to 33.2cm. This limitation can be overcome by reducing the pitch value to allow for a greater DFOV.
