Educating the Next Generation of Leaders in Radiology

In addition to learning clinical radiology, the goal of radiology residency is to prepare the next generation to lead radiology into the next several decades. This requires learners to hone the right skills during training so that they will be able to lead teams and act in the right way at the right time for the right reasons. Over the past decade, some residency programs have moved away from traditional didactic in-classroom teaching to a more blended learning environment comprised of in-person, online, and self-directed exercises. A few institutions and organizations have even harnessed the power of technology to bring together groups of people from diverse settings in virtual learning communities.
