Artificial intelligence (AI) and more specifically machine and deep learning are rapidly developing technologies with the potential to transform how clinical radiology is practiced 1, 2. Academic centers and major players in medical imaging AI have established active partnerships including Memorial Sloane-Kettering with IBM Watson, Stanford with Arterys, and the University of Virginia with Zebra Medical Vision 3, 4, 5. The call for active engagement with AI at the trainee level was made clear as leaders in the field at the RSNA 2017 annual meeting suggested that radiology education in AI may come to be as essential as radiology education in physics .
