For the foreseeable future, artificial intelligence (AI) will be deployed in radiology and change how we work. Initially, radiologists will reap benefits from these emerging technologies. AI will improve efficiency by prioritizing cases and improving schedules and protocols. With further improvement, AI will emerge as a second reader, providing a safety net that reduces misses. Radiologists will be pleased with their new faceless apprentices. However, AI is not a static technology. Its very nature is to keep improving as it is fed more data and as the ground truth becomes better refined.
