Although ductal adenocarcinoma represents approximately 90% of all tumors arising in the pancreas, neoplasms originating outside the exo-crine ductal epithelium are rare. These include tumors arising from the neuroendocrine cells of the islets of Langerhans (islet cell tumors [ICTs]), lymphomas (usually the non-Hodgkin's B-cell type), and metastases to the gland. Mesenchymal neoplasms of the pancreas are exceedingly rare. This article reviews the radiological manifestations of these uncommon tumors, with emphasis on their CT appearance.
