Could you please share what your institution is charging for exams that are requested to have both without and with contrast, when the noncontrast series is actually a virtual noncontrast series dirived from the enhanced scan? We have been doing this with our Discovery CT 750HD when dual energy (GSI) mode is used.
Is it proper to bill W & W/OUT on professional side since there are two series to dictate?
Also, is it proper to bill W & W/OUT on the technical side if only one scan was performed?
Pretty hard one to answer.... I can't even get a proper answer on my side either. That is why I / We are requesting your help. Medicare fraud is a nasty thing that I don't think anybody wants to get into, but I seriously don't think that they know the capabilities of the most modern CT systems either.
