Dr. Fish
Do you recommend not doing with out CT images prior to injection contrast on pediactric patients? The ACR commented that we over exposed out ped patients. We have a Siemen's TruePoint 64 slices, and use the Care Dose on all patients.

I think in most cases non contrast scans are not needed in peds patients. Surely routine non-contrast CT before a contrast scan is not needed in adults or pediatric patients. select non contrast scans are needed in renal cases but for liver, pancreas, bowel, lung, etc are not needed.
as for the ACR review were you using 100 or 120 kVp for your patients?

Do you suggest that we drop our kvp to 100? We would be gladly do so. I believe what happen is that the CT technologist during application training, just took the adult protocols as to size of slices and transfered them to the pedi protocols. Then leaving what the factory set was.
I would be please to have any suggestions from you for pedi imaging. We do not get that many pedi cases. Usually, CTs for abdomen, abdomen/pelivs, and brain.
Thank you for your help
