Origins of CTisus.com

Prior to 1998, our lab had created numerous computer based teaching materials. CT The Game (Figure 1) was probably our best known application, but we had also developed other educational exhibits using Apple HyperCard (Apple Computer, Cupertino, CA)and later Allegiant SuperCard (Allegiant Technologies, Inc, San Diego, CA). These software packages supported the use of hypertext before widespread usage of the web was common. The World Wide Web was becoming increasingly mainstream by the late 1990’s, and we decided to adapt our knowledge of non-linear hypertext-inclusive educational programming to include this new medium. Little did we know then how the web would revolutionize dissemination of educational materials.
